Making Plans IRL Just Got Easier on Snapchat

IRL meet-ups often start from a simple spark of conversation: A message turns into an idea, an idea turns into a plan, and time spent together becomes a memory. That’s why today we are introducing Snapchat Plans, a new suite of features that gives Snapchatters a new way to create, share, and manage their real-world plans with friends, all in one place. Right where they are already chatting!

Now, Snapchatters can: 

• Send and receive invitations from mutual friends 

• Track key details like time, date, and attendees 

• Keep plans in one easy-to-find place

• And soon, Snapchatters will be able to create events directly within a chat

Snapchat has always been where friendships stay close, and conversations stay active. And increasingly, it’s where plans begin. 35% of recently surveyed U.S. Snapchatters ages 13–24 say they use group chat to make plans and organize events. ¹ Snapchat Plans builds on those existing behaviors by giving friends a dedicated way to organize everything from birthday celebrations and sporting events to study sessions and weekend hangouts.

Creating a Snapchat Plan is simple. Snapchatters can add a title, choose a date and time, invite up to 200 friends, and personalize their event with dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art that automatically updates as the plan comes together. Invitations are then delivered directly within a one-on-one chat with each invited friend, where guests can quickly RSVP with Going, Maybe, or Can't Go without interrupting the conversation.

Plans are also easy to revisit whenever you need them. A brand new My Plans section on your Profile lets you quickly browse all your current, upcoming, and past Snapchat Plans in one place. When viewing a Friendship Profile, you'll also see an Our Plans section that highlights the events you share with that friend, making it easy to start scheduling your next get-together. 

Once a Snapchat Plan is created, hosts can view who's attending, invite additional friends, or update details as needed. Guests can view the full guest list, update their RSVP at any time, and receive a reminder 1 hour before the event starts, helping everyone stay on the same page from the first invite through the day of the event.

Like conversations on Snapchat, Snapchat Plans are private and invite-only, giving friends a familiar and trusted place to coordinate the moments that matter most. No more missed get-togethers because of buried messages, lost details, or forgetting to create an invitation. Snapchat Plans make it easier to organize these special in-person moments with your friends. Because when planning is easier, showing up is easier, and that’s where the best moments happen.
