This Sunday is Super Bowl LVIII, and to help Snapchatters get their game faces on, we’re partnering with the NFL to launch a slew of fun new features on Snapchat.
We know that so many Snapchatters are deeply connected to sports and use Snapchat to connect with friends and family during major events like the Super Bowl — from Snapping their game day outfits and chatting about the commercials to celebrating big plays. Last year, nearly 10 million people watched NFL content on Snapchat for Super Bowl LVII, and Snapchatters in North America engaged with Lenses more than 2 billion times.
“The Super Bowl is more than just a game — it’s an opportunity for us to reemphasize our core commitment to deepening relationships, connecting fans across the spectrum around this major sports and cultural tentpole moment. This year, Snapchat is bringing fans closer to the teams and players they love and is thrilled to further its partnership with the NFL to unlock new and innovative ways for Snapchatters to express their football fandom and celebrate The Big Game.” – Anmol Malhotra, Snapchat Head of Sports Partnerships
Camera Kit Integrations
This year, the NFL will integrate Snapchat’s Camera Kit technology at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, marking the first time that Snapchat’s Camera Kit technology will be integrated into a Super Bowl host stadium. Throughout the game, the NFL will place entertaining and engaging Lenses on attending fans to enhance the in-stadium experience, including custom Vegas Super Bowl-themed helmets and helmets for both the 49ers and Chiefs.
In addition, the NFL will have custom Super Bowl experiences available in the official NFL app through Camera Kit, including an all new gamified Super Bowl Lens that features trivia questions about the 49ers and the Chiefs.
AR Lenses
To bring our Snapchat sports fans closer together, whether they’re at the venue or at home, we’ve launched the NFL Super Bowl Lens. Utilizing an API integration, this experience allows Snapchatters to predict various game outcomes and see real-time data on how the rest of Snapchat is making their picks. At the end of the game, Snapchatters will be able to return to the Lens to see if their picks were right. This Lens will be available in search, the NFL’s official Snapchat Profile, and the Lens Carousel.
To help Snapchatters show off their team pride, Snapchatters can use the NFL Live Jersey Lens to seamlessly try on official NFL jerseys for both the Chiefs and the 49ers by using Snapchat’s Live Garment Transfer technology. Snapchatters can also visit NFLShop.com directly from the Lens to purchase the jersey. This Lens will also be available in Search, the NFL’s official Snapchat Profile, and the Lens Carousel.
Spotlight
To make it even more fun to celebrate the biggest game day moments, we’ve launched a football-themed Spotlight Challenge in partnership with the NFL. The #TouchdownCelebration Challenge encourages Snapchatters to submit their most epic NFL Super Bowl #TouchdownCelebration for their chance to be featured on the Challenge’s main page and win their share of $20,000 in prize money.
The NFL will also post content to Spotlight from their verified @NFL Snap Star account throughout the week leading up to The Big Game and on game day.
Cameos
Super Bowl-themed Cameo Stickers will also be available on game day via Search and in the Sticker drawer.
Of course, this is just scratching the surface on how Snapchat serves as a go-to platform for the Super Bowl. To learn about the advertising side of The Big Game on Snapchat, check out our For Business blog post on the power of Super Bowl ads on Snapchat.
